New Glarus Brewing – Two Women Lager (German Pilsner)

  • 5.00% ABV
  • Not really a fan of lagers so I am sure that the awesomeness of this is escaping me. It isnt bad but the style is way to malt centric for me. I am also not a fan of that “lager” taste. I am confused to why BeerAdvocate classify this as a German Pilsner when New Glarus clearly labels it as a lager. I dunno? I do know that it is awsome that New Glarus’s head brewer is a woman. Dont see that very often.

Sly Fox Brewing Company – Pikeland Pils (German Pilsener)

  • 4.90% ABV
  • Well this is annoying, this is one of my New York beers but it isnt from New York. It is from fucking Pennsylvania. I dont hate Pennsylvania, except for Philly. I mean come on, who doesnt hate Philly. Well even though this beer didnt come from New York it is really really good. It is a German Pilsner, no surprise about the German part it is Pennsylvania after all. All in all this is a really good pilsner. It makes me confused because there is nothing that really resembles hops, well at least pale ale or IPA hops. And yet I love it. I just finished it and I am sad because I want more.

Left Hand Brewing Company – Polestar Pilsner (German Pilsener)

  • 5.50% ABV
  • Another pilsner… Not sure what I was thinking there. Because while the Pali was pretty good this is more in line with the other pilsner’s I have had, meaning not so good. I dont understand why but most pilsners have a weird almost metallic taste to them. This is no different. Not horrible, just a little of in my opinion.

Butte Creek Brewing Company – Organic Pilsner (German Pilsener)

  • 4.50% ABV
  • Yup. It tastes like ass. At first taste I was all like “this isnt very good”. The more I drink the more ass like it tastes. I hate to beat thedead horse but I think this is a organic thing. I still havnt had an organic beer that was brewed organically that doesnt taste like??? Ass? Yes, yes indeed… Ass!

Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH – Stiegl Pils (German Pilsener)

  • 4.90% ABV
  • I expected better but I think that is because I have so crazy idea what a Pilsner is supposed to taste like. Most of the Pils I have bought have been kind of disappointing. I mean it isnt bad and I will take it over a Coors but that really isnt a compliment. It is from Austria which makes it hurt a little more, I expect more from them
