This is more up my alley, unfortunately the last Terrapin I had wasnt really that good. This on the other hand is some thing I can happily turn into pee. It isnt the best IPA I have ever had but it is brewed in Utah so I am willing to cut them some slack. It actually has a pretty good flavor.
So Terrapin says they used a “silly amount of rye” in brewing this and I can taste it. It also shows in the look of the beer, it is very dark, to dark for a saison. It also doesnt really taste like a saison, it isnt bad but I got all excited in the pants thinking I was getting a farmhouse. This tastes more like a double. Kind of sweet but at least it isnt full on double sweet. I dont know… It is OK.
I dont really know what to say. It tastes like the normal Arrogant Bastard but a with some of the sharper corners rounded off. I like it but I am not sure how it differs from the normal one. I guess go read that review.
Smells almost adjuncty which isnt necessarily a bad thing but it kind of throws the rest of the beer off. It doesnt taste like an adjunct but it is close. Ya, pretty close to a bud it is just a little more buttery tasting.
There seems to be a half dissolved newspaper floating in my beer. I have had plenty of unfiltered beers but not many with as much crap floating in them. It tastes pretty good, a little sweet whith a pretty big malt taste. Not really my type of beer but it doesnt taste bad.
At first taste I thought this was a really weak American IPA, but I liked it. There is a reason it is so weak, it is an English IPA. Yes I shit all over the English IPA’s but now I have had a couple that are really good. They dont have the bitter’s of an American IPA but I am beginning to appreciate the subtleties of the English.
This beer has an almost Session taste to it. It smells flowery and it tastes all most flowery, kind of like a half assed Sarachi Ace. It is good and I am enjoying it, but… It isnt an American IPA. I will buy it again but not if I am looking for an AIPA
I just finished a super bitter beer so I am sure I am missing a lot of the nuances going on with this but… It tastes like a hefe? It is good but I am not picking anything out extraordinary. I want to try it out before I drink anything else in the same evening to give it a fair chance.
Oh no! What happened? Stone made yet another awesome beer. This is the first American Black Ale I have ever had and I have to say I like it. Of course I am pretty sure Stone could brew a bucket of mud water and it would turn out awesome. Any way, this has a definite malt taste which balances out the hops perfectly. Ya, this is going to the top of my favorite beer list.
