Terrapin Beer Company – TomFoolery (Saison)

  • 7.30% ABV
  • So Terrapin says they used a “silly amount of rye” in brewing this and I can taste it. It also shows in the look of the beer, it is very dark, to dark for a saison. It also doesnt really taste like a saison, it isnt bad but I got all excited in the pants thinking I was getting a farmhouse. This tastes more like a double. Kind of sweet but at least it isnt full on double sweet. I dont know… It is OK.

Long Trail Brewing Company – Long Trail Traditional IPA (English IPA)

  • 5.90% ABV
  • At first taste I thought this was a really weak American IPA, but I liked it. There is a reason it is so weak, it is an English IPA. Yes I shit all over the English IPA’s but now I have had a couple that are really good. They dont have the bitter’s of an American IPA but I am beginning to appreciate the subtleties of the English.

Stone Brewing Company – Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale (American Black Ale)

  • 8.70% ABV
  • Oh no! What happened? Stone made yet another awesome beer. This is the first American Black Ale I have ever had and I have to say I like it. Of course I am pretty sure Stone could brew a bucket of mud water and it would turn out awesome. Any way, this has a definite malt taste which balances out the hops perfectly. Ya, this is going to the top of my favorite beer list.
