AS Tartu Ă•lletehas – Viru (American Adjunct Lager)

  • 5.00%
  • It took me a while to look this thing up and the whole time I am drinking and enjoying it. It is light tasting but not Lite tasting, smells pretty good and is all around satisfying. Turns out to be and American Adjunct, which normally means it should taste like ass but they pull it off. Good job you crazy Estonian brewers.

New Holland Brewing Company – Envious (Fruit)

  • 7.50% ABV
  • I was kind of disappointed when I poured this because it was so dark and had a pretty sweet smell. The taste tho… oh the taste. Very strange but it is totally subtle about it. It threw me for a loop so I looked up what the hell was going on with it and it turns out that there is a lot going on. Look it up for your self to get the whole picture but it is brewed with pears (which sounds gross but it works), raspberry and a chardonnay yeast. Sounds like a train wreck right? Wrong! it is awesome.

Stillwater Artisanal Ales – Stateside Saison (Saison)

  • 6.80% ABV
  • I have a had a couple of Saison’s now and I have loved them all (Saison Du BUFF is one of my favorite beers) so it is with great sadness that I say this one isn’t very good. I like it but is no where near the same class of the other ones I have tried. I can still easily tell what it is supposed to be, Stillwater hit all of the right notes for a Farmhouse but there is a sweetness that I haven’t tasted in other ones. Not bad but I can find better.

Belhaven Brewery Company Ltd. – Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA (English IPA)

  • 5.30% ABV
  • Well at least it smells good… Annnndd thats about it. I still have that feeling that the English (in this case the Scot’s but close enough) have no fookin (thats for the Scot’s) idea how to make an IPA that doesn’t suck. This doesn’t suck as a beer, it just sucks as a IPA. M1 even said it tastes like a mix of an IPA and a lager. I say it is way to far over the lager line…

Stone Brewing Company – Cali-Belgique (Belgian IPA)

  • 6.90% ABV
  • So after 365 reviews or notes to myself about beer I have repeated myself a couple of times. Not really my fault, I am not that clever and because of that I have a limited set of phrases to describe something. This time is different, I am saying this on purpose even tho I have said it before. I am a Stone whore. They are consistently the best brewer out there and while I have had a couple of their beers I didn’t like on average they are the best. And to prove my point I present their Cali-Belgique. According to the write up on the bottle it is the same beer as the Stone IPA but using Belgian yeast. I have only had a couple of the Stone IPA’a so I am not going to try and point out the differences. Instead I am just going to say it is awesome.

Great Divide Brewing Company – Fresh Hop Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 6.10% ABV
  • This is the second wet hopped beer I have had and while it isnt as distinct tasting as the Chico I really like it. First off, wet hopping is cool as shit, it gives a really unique taste that make you do a double take. I am not sure how to describe it so it makes any sense but it is… fresh??? I know that doesnt really give you a clue but trust me it is good. As far as it being a American Pale Ale it is kind of enjoyable, at only 55 IBU’s it is a nice change of pace that I am enjoying.

Bateman’s Brewery – Bateman’s Combined Harvest (English Pale Ale)

  • 4.70% ABV
  • Dear England, how is it that you invented Pale Ale’s and yet make them taste so bad? For real, what the hell is going wrong over there? This supposedly won a gold medal at the International Beer Awards but I am not entirely sure how because it tastes kind of like shit. It has a strong malt flavor but it is a sweet malt flavor. Bot sure how they pulled that of. Any way, I am giving this one to M1 to finish.
