Smuttynose Brewing – Bouncy House IPA (American Pale Ale)

  • 4.30% ABV
  • It’s been a while since I have had a Smuttynose and I could totally tell who brewed this at first taste. I dont know if it the yeast they use or what but there is a very distinct taste to Smuttynose beers. The good thing is that I like it and while all of their beers dont taste the same they have a subtle theme that I really dig. This might have a little more malt to it than I normally want but it is working here.

Nebraska Brewing Company – Cardinal Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.75% ABV
  • WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?! This is really really good. I had to look at the brewers site to figure out why it tastes so good and it makes total sense. Cascade hops! Werd, they really are the best tasting flower ever. Hops are flowers, I looked that shit up. It is strange that such a good beer is brewed in Nebraska, because Nebraska pretty much sucks. I know I used to live there. Anyway, buy this shit.

SweetWater Brewing – 420 (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.40% ABV
  • Well this is pretty good. To be fair, in my mind it is pretty hard to fuck up an APA but this one is pretty good. Good in that it hits all of the points that make APA’s great with a TWIST. Duhn duhn duhn!!! It is hoppy like it should be with a strange (but enjoyable) crispness. The mystery is the malts. They are totally there, as in you can actually taste them. This is strange to me because I mostly dont like that, it normally means that shit is going wrong. Weird sweetness… Strange after taste… None of that shit is here. It is just good. I guess, and I am talking out of my ass here, that is why they call it an Extra Pale Ale. Fuck it, I dont know but I do like it.

Baxter Brewing Co. – Pamola Xtra Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 4.90% ABV
  • Well it is is crisp and I am pretty sure that is what they are going for, so success on that front.  That isnt fair, this is pretty good, and since it was brewed in Maine which is almost exclusively populated by half-wits I should cut it some slack. It is a excellent example of what I like to think a APA should taste like.

Elysian Brewing Company – Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.40% ABV
  • I am not sure if the blood orange is just super subtle or if it is just a gimmick but I cant taste it. I really, really want to because I think it is an awesome idea. I mean, come on! Blood orange in a Pale Ale, what isnt to like? It is still a really good Pale Ale that is magically delicious. Buy it I guess.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company – Freshchester Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.60% ABV
  • This is delicious, serious it is fucking awesome. I also might have drank a lot tonight but I really liked this beer. That doesnt detract from how good this is. I am a little pissed that the brewer is from (basically) New  York City because that isnt New York. New York city is a awesome/shitty region of New York that is a place on its own. What ever this beer is good. Really good. Buy it…

Ca L’Arenys – Guineu Riner (American Pale Ale)

  • 2.80% ABV
  • I haven’t had many Spanish beers so this is cool. It is also kind of odd in so much that it is only 2.80% ABV. I mean come on, that is like Utah legal… Ha! Stupid Utah. I dont know if there any Mormons in Spain but what ever, that is a really low ABV. It also tastes pretty good. It isnt the best APA I have ever had but it has a pretty good amount of hops and it smells pretty good. It is like beer flavored water. Awesome.
