Wells & Young’s Ltd – Young’s Double Chocolate Stout (Milk Stout)

  • 5.20% ABV
  • So M1 is baking a cake that called for a Stout (I know it sounds awesome) and this is the beer she bought. Normally I don’t buy stouts because I don’t really like them but oh man am I glad she got this one. It is not as heavy as I would have thought being a Double and all.  It is also not as chocolaty as you would think. Basically it is everything is almost perfect balance.

Stone Brewing Company – Cherry Chocolate Stout (Milk Stout)

  • 7.30% ABV
  • Number 1 (and this important), do not drink this beer if it is cold. Serious, I tried the first sip and almost started crying. Have I finally tried a bad Stone, is everything I know to be true about the universe wrong? Nope! It just is a very subtle and in my mind a temperature sensitive beer. I think it is the chocolate that needs to be at the right temp for enjoyment, there is a delicious battle going on between the chocolate and the “milk” part. It takes a while to separate them, a task I am more than willing to complete… Oh ya! The cherry, it isnt all up in your face like a Lambic but you cant miss it. It is subtle just like everything else here.
