I like beer.

Tin Cannon Brewing Company – Heart of the Lion (American Amber)

  • 5.60% ABV
  • Another beer from my Boston retard. Thanks dummy! I like this beer, and I have forgotten that I like amber’s. This is smooth and malty which I generally shy away from but it is really working well here. My only complaint is that there really is no head to it. I guess that might be because the growler is like a day or two old. Even with that I am enjoying it tho.

TIN CANNON BREWING COMPANY – Bobby’s Pale Ale (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.7% ABV
  • Another local (Virginia) beer from my Boston hook up. I would say I dont know why I have a dude from Boston bringing me beers from a brewery that is like 5 miles away from me, but I know why. I am lazy as shit. Thats it really, no excuse. What ever, I spend 8 hours a day doing his job for him because he is dumb as hell. He owes me, like sexual favors level of owe. I say that getting beer from him is a pretty good deal considering. What ever, onto the beer. I gotta say I like it. I have been drinking session IPA’s a lot lately and I forgot why I like Pale Ales, malts. Ya I know, normally I hate being able to taste them but this isnt like a stout. There is more malt than a session IPA but not enough to over power the hops. Ya, I like it.

Tin Cannon Brewing Company – Rusted Pipe Red (Imperial Red)

  • 8.30% ABV
  • So my Boston beer supplier is back in action and thats pretty cool. He brought me this weird little growler from a brewer in… Gainsville, Va. Well its not Boston but I still want the the beer. I guess the brewer, Tin Cannon, is a micro brewer? Which means they are supper tiny I guess, I dont know but the micro part points to small right? Kind of like my pud, super tiny. Fuck who knows, I am not complaining. The beer is pretty good. It is very smooth, with basically the hops and malts balanced out. Neither one really tops the other and you can tell they are there. My only complaint is that the ABV is pretty high but you cant tell it from the taste. The only thing that gives it away is the warmness in the stomach.

THAI ME UP / MELVIN BREWING – 2×4 (American Double)

  • 10.00% ABV
  • Wow this is a sweet, sweet beer and I dont mean sweet like “Sweet Bro!”, I mean sweet like honey. It is also 10%, so I guess if you drink more than one of them you will be so off your ass that you wont notice the sweetness. I gotta say this isnt really doing it for me which is odd because this is a really highly rated beer. Well it takes all sorts I guess.

Atwater Brewery – Dirty Blonde (American Pale Wheat Ale)

  • 4.50% ABV
  • So you know how people bitch about their Mother In Law? Well mine is pretty awesome, she bought me a ton of Michigan beer and brought it down for me. Well it is probably just a thank you gift for taking one of her daughters off of her hands. She has like 8 of them, serious that lady made a lot of kids. Any way this is a Pale Wheat, a style I dont really drink that often and I know remember why. Dont get me wrong, this is a pretty good beer but I dont really dig all of the malts in it. It is also kind of sweet. Meh…

Thai Me Up / Melvin Brewing – Melvin IPA (American IPA)

  • 7.50% ABV
  • My crazy ass Vermont connection is back in town and that magnificent bastard brought me 2 beers. Thanks man! Anywho, onto the beer. Probably the coolest thing is that the brewer is from Wyoming, which isnt a thing anybody ever really says but I do because I am from Wyoming too. Thats cool right? Fuck you Wyoming is cool. This is a very subtle IPA, it doesnt have a shit ton of bitterness and what it does have falls into the citrus side of the house. I like it but I dont like how high the ABV is because it is so smooth I could drink a mess of them. Which in turn would turn me into a mess, a naked slobbering mess of a human. Like with bad decisions that would haunt me for the rest of my life, and I already have a tons of those. Welp, I guess it is good I only have one of them.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery – Romantic Chemistry (American IPA)

  • 7.20% ABV
  • Well Dogfish continues its tradition of either making off the chart good beer or brewing the absolute worst. Thankfully this time it is awesome. So good… It really reminds me of their odd grape musk beer, it has that almost weird sourness to it. Not sour like a Flanders Red, but it is there. I really like it, and I mean that, but it isnt really an IPA like the way I would expect. There isnt a lot of bitterness in it, it just kind of sneaks around the corners. Its there but not out in the open. That holds true for the sour part, once again its there but not all up in your face. Kind of like Ebony and Ivory, if they were both high school football athletes that loved each other but felt they had to keep it on the down low because of societal restrictions. Beautiful but quiet.

Stone Brewing – Enjoy By Black IPA (American Black Ale)

  • 9.40% ABV
  • Its been a while but I am back and sense nobody reads this nobody missed me. So thats cool, I didnt let anybody down. Any way, on to the beer. I like the Stone Enjoy by stuff, they get to make all sorts of one run goofy beers. Sometimes they are good sometimes they are terrible. This one is pretty good it reminds some of a Self Rightous which isnt shocking it being a black IPA and all. My only real complaint is the same on as always, way to much of the ABV’s. I like to have a beer every now and then, I dont like having to worry about waking up in a park naked. Drink a couple of these and that would be a distinct possibility. Ehhh. I like it.

Alpine Beer Company – Duet (American IPA)

  • 7.00% ABV
  • I almost didnt even review this beer because the last Alpine I had was good, and I will drink more of them, it wasnt great. After the first sip of this one I knew it deserved a review. It is not very bitter but there are a lot of very flavorful hops in it. I like the balance they got going on between the hops and then the hops and malts. It is pretty bad ass.

Alpine Beer Company – Hoppy Birthday (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.25% ABV
  • Hoppy Birthday… theee he he… Get it? Its a joke son. Any way this is a pretty good APA that Alpine markets as a session ale. Either way I like it. Nothing super out of the ordinary, just a good ass session. I have said it before but I am running out of clever things to say about sessions so I am forced to end this here.

Stone Brewing – Thunderstruck IPA (Imperial IPA)

  • 8.70% ABV
  • Well it is certainly a Stone IPA, no chance of not recognizing that. It is super bitter, like over the top bitter. I have no idea what hops they used but DAMN SON! It is really really good. If it wasnt at hobo level ABV it would be perfect. But ya, there is way to much alcohol in this for me to really enjoy. It is good for a one time shot tho…

Terrapin Beer Company – The Walking Dead (American IPA)

  • 6.70% ABV
  • I have said it before but it bears repeating. Gimmick beers are not often any good and this is one of those. It isnt horrible but I am not really digging it. It is kind of like a mash up of flavors, there is some bitterness and some hops and I guess some blood orange in there also. It just isnt working for me. Some times when you mix things together you wind up with surprisingly good shit. Just try and pick up a Thai girl in a bar and you will know what I am talking about, a whole lot of WTF but then it gets all sexy. This beer isnt sexy, it also isnt very good. I am kind of dreading how much more of it I have to drink. Which I guess ties in with the whole Walking Dead theme…

Union Craft Brewing – Duckpin (American Pale Ale)

  • 5.50% ABV
  • Kind of malty for a pale ale, not saying it is bad but it is not really in step with the current trend of hoppy pale ales. Well honestly the trend now is that everything is hoppy but that is a good thing because I like hops. Any way this is pretty good but like I said, I like the hops. It is pretty cool that it is brewed in Bodymore. It is nice to see something other than crime coming outa there.

Stone Brewing – Enjoy By 10.31.15 (American IPA)

  • 9.40% ABV
  • I have had a bunch of these and I am really starting to think that they are the same beer each time. They probably are and I am just an idiot for not realizing it but I seriously would have thought there would be variations to them. Either way they are pretty good, nothing I am going to want to have more than one every month or so. I guess the release cycle from Stone is perfect because they only come out like every quarter or so. It is pretty much what you expect from a Stone IPA but? Fresher? I dunno. It is pretty good.

Founders Brewing – Harvest Ale (American IPA)

  • 7.60% ABV
  • I am going to butcher the description of this beer. Mostly because I suck at describing things but what ever. You know how wet hopped beers have that wierdly smooth taste to them. Kind of like you can taste the green of the hops? Well this has it in spades. Told you I would fuck up the description. If you like wet hopped beers then you are going to love this and it is a pretty good beer. But… I dont like it. The bitterness is muted and there isnt really anything else that steps up to take its place. Also the ABV is a little to high to enjoy more than one or two of them, and that is OK it just isnt for me.
